I am Ergo. I am your friendly neighborhood kantian, here to evangelize the teachings of our lady and saviour Christine Korsgaard, and the theoretical and normative philosophy associated with the tradition of German Idealism, which are correct and good and form the singular path towards Aufklärung. I am an abstract being identical with the activity of typing, so most queries about my whereabouts, wherefroms, wheretos, wherefores and hows are not truth-or-false-apt and will be left unanswered. In my concrete existence I multi-class as a juridical priest and part-time competitive pedant. My philosophical endeavours and interests (besides Kantian deontology and GI) revolve around legal, moral and political philosophy. Work is slowly but very deliberately murdering me, pls send help.
I am also one of the moderators, which means I'm also here to make sure you calm down and BEHAVE. Should you be uncalm, you will be warned to recalm. Should you exhibit the vice of NOT BEHAVING, I will use my privileges to edit your post (it will probably be something very embarassing. You will have brought this on yourself). Should you develop an inclination towards NOT BEHAVING, you will be exiled for your insolence*.
To be serious, insofar as there is consensus over the community we want to have, we seem to favour the idea of a friendly, welcoming one that isn't self-serious yet can sustain serious conversations, one where people can participate without treading on eggshells or getting drawn into inane status competitions, but where they are still expected and inclined to treat others amicably and decently. So one shouldn't expect anything arbitrary or overbearing from the mods, about as much as they shouldn't expect to stay around if their interactions are consistently hostile or they happen to be bigots.
*This is not strictly representative of the actual moderation process, but it has indisputable practical significance in bringing its abstract precepts closer to intuition.
